This website deals with attorneys, law offices, private detectives in in the city of Medan and the northern half of Sumatra Island.
The international reputation of the Indonesian judicial system is not the best, and the image problem encompasses trial attorneys.
To start with, to be a criminal case lawyer in Indonesia isn't a job for cowards. When matters reach the stage of court hearings, the danger of matters getting violently out of hand is more immanent in Indonesia than anywhere in the west, and even more so than in any neighboring country.
On the other hand, the ethnic group that inhabits the region where Medan is situated, the Bataks are quite well-known for not withdrawing from conflict.
And indeed, among in the criminal trial attorney profession in Indonesia, Bataks are grossly over-represented.
I have been living in Medan for many years, and I have been through a good number of legal procedures (though never as defendant). I know the scene and I am willing to give advice, and to recommend attorneys for certain matters.
